Cloud watching is not dead....

Yeah cloud watching......you know that thing that you always see in movies where people lie on their backs and try to find shapes in the clouds. OK ill be totally honest, these photos were in no way taken while liying on my back and partaking of the aforementioned activity. They were taken in the parking lot of In-n-Out before i went in to get a greasy burger and continue to feed my obesity........mmmmm in-n-out. Ok back to the clouds, i love clouds!! Mostly because they provide such great texture to the sky, and with the the imminent curtain fall on winter i gotta enjoy these wonderful things while they last. Dont get me wrong i love summer and im all for warm weather, but lets face it clear blue skies for the next 3-4 months.......BOOOOOORING!!! Thats all i have been seeing the past 2 weeks is clear blue skies oh and that all so wonderful marine layer. Yeah that crap that starts out like cool clouds so you get all excited and head down to the coast to scope out a cool location only to arrive and see this gross layer of gray crap that covers all of the glory that the setting sun could be......yeah THAT marine layer!!! Anywho, these 3 images were taken weeks and weeks ago, but as i went through all the editing i have to do i saw them and did a quick 5 minute editing sesh on them. so there you are.........enjoy!!

Congrats to Stephanie and Kevin....

We got to shoot a wedding on Saturday that was a lot of fun. I have known Stephanie and her family for a long time now, in fact her younger brother ( who is all grown up now ) was in the HS small group that we co-led . Yeah i know its scary to think that the church would actually trust me with a group of students to influence. The wedding was blast, and since weve all gone to the same church for many years we got to see a lot of friends that we havent seen for a while. The weather couldnt have been better as the day was absolutely gorgeous, Kevin and Stephanie were a blast to be around and were so natural around the camera. I didnt have to tell them anything really, just were to stand and to them it was like i wasnt even there.......it was awesome!! Thank you guys for letting us be part of your day, we wish you nothing but the best!!

cruising down PCH.....

windows down, sunroof open, music blaring and enjoying watching the sun go down. all the while looking out and realizing just how lucky we are to be surrounded by such beauty. Thats what my afternoon was like today, after being indoors all day editing i got a last minute shooting assignment from the magazine. With the sun making its descent into the ocean and the light becoming a nice golden color i decided it was time go out. Gear in hand i cruised out to my shoot got done and decided to drive back on PCH because that is probably one of my most favorite things to do when im out by the coast. Theres nothing quite like it and one cant help but look out at the ocean and crack a smile knowing that what we have in our state people from all over the country fly out here to see. Its pretty darn cool when you think about it.

Congrats to Jordan & Katelyn......

Yes yesterday marked a sad day for many bachelors as one of the last bastions and proponents of bachelorhood took the plunge and tied the knot. Jordan and Katelyn had their wedding yesterday and my wife and i had the incredible honor of photographing the event. It was an absolute blast!! It was great to see everything come together and really just how good God can be despite our worrying nature. Weather was the greatest concern as the day before it had begun to rain and we had crazy winds, but we had GORGEOUS weather yesterday albeit freezing for the girls. Nellie Chan did an amazing job coordinating everything for the day, i was absolutely blown away by everything that she did and just her availability to answer questions. She is definitely someone to look at if youre looking for a wedding coordinator. I could write forever about how cool the day was and how much fun it was but ill spare you all that, although i will say that im glad this was how we began our wedding season for this year. Im been crazy busy with work and so im behind on editing, so heres just a few of my favorites from the day. More will come as i start to edit through them. Enjoy!!

Ladies and gentlemen i give you Teylor Camilo...

Did a senior portrait today that was a total blast, Teylor attends the same church that i have been at for many many years now. Ive know her for a while now but it wasnt until today that i learned that her sister is Danielle Camilo who is a very talented musician and graphic designer.....learn something new everyday i suppose. We did the photos at the old Bonsall Bridge, you might remember it from an earlier post i did. Its an old bridge that looks really cool and even better its been closed down to traffic so its a great place to shoot. Of course you get the random couple the walks on by making out the whole time.....makes for an awkward time while their passing by but a good source of laughter when they are gone. Mary Kate Dougan joined us for all the fun and she became my little assistant for the afternoon, we had fun watching her trying to figure out how to fold the diffuser back into position......hahahahaha it was pretty funny. So the afternoon was a blast shooting photos and quoting random Zoolander movie lines, i think i burned off my breakfast burrito just by laughing the whole time. Thanks for a fun afternoon ladies, you were both a blast to be around. Heres some photos. Enjoy!!

Out for a spot of fun....

Friday i was out shooting photos for a "possible" magazine cover......we will see if i get it or not. While i was out i decided to hit the beach since i was nearby and do some shooting of my own. I have been really busy with work these last couple of weeks and havent been able to shoot "zo" stuff, dont get me wrong.....i LOVE the fact that im busy and get to do this for work. Yet there is a definite distinction between shoots that you do as an assignment or work and the stuff that when you do it just totally relaxes you. When all youre doing is losing yourself in the moment and it all just melts away with every click of the shutter. Of course you wouldnt get this impression if you were there watching me shoot as i was moving all over the place and by the end i was soaked in sea water and sweat, but it was AWESOME!!! I stayed until the last possible moment just trying to capture those last few moments of light and color in the sky......it was a blast and thats really all that needs to be said. Heres some photos. Enjoy!!

The Talley and Stueve Family....

On Monday i shot a family portrait in Carlsbad for Don Talley and his family and for the Stueve family. It was a lot of fun and Dons little girls were so much fun and really cute!! Don is the Senior Director of National Ministries for Youth for Christ in Colorado......man thats a mouthful, hes been in that role for the past 20 years and is a really down to earth kind of guy. I had a great time hanging out with him and his family and just joking around with them all, the shoot went great and we had beautiful California weather. I was a little worried because we kept getting hit with storm after rain storm for a while and i thought that it wouldnt clear up. Nothing a little prayer couldn't fix though, i put in my request before i wen to sleep the night before and was awakened by an annoying shaft of light burning a hole into my retina the next morning. Still working on the other photos along with trying to finish my other projects, but i might post a couple more as soon as i get a chance. So heres a few shots from Monday....Enjoy!!

Im still breathing....

So whats it been now like 2-2 1/2 weeks since i posted something new? My wife brought this to my attention and said i should be ashamed of myself......indeed i am. I love to post new stuff but the last couple of weeks have been crazy busy for me, as some of you know i have been shooting for some local magazines for about a year now and they have been keeping me busy. I love it!! Ive been photographing some different events, making new contacts, just shooting shooting shooting. Havent gotten to shoot stuff for myself, i am in no way complaining cus shooting stuff for the mags has been crazy fun and i have loved every minute of it. Aside from shooting i have been editing like crazy too, that part is not as much fun but its still very necessary and im really behind on stuff on that front but im making progress. So yeah there you have it, thats what i have been up to thus far, i have a bunch of wedding and portrait work coming up si im going to be busy....:) but soon enough ill be getting back out and shooting some "zo" stuff. Oh and be on the lookout for some new material soon, i have a new toy coming in soon. All i will say is that i am VERY excited. Thats all for now, heres a smattering of stuff that i have been shooting for the mags and a separate post on a family portrait sesh i did on Monday. Enjoy!!
